Religion Belief Little Mosque On The Prairie

Religion Belief Little Mosque On The Prairie
A few readers of this blog possibly will experience again the 1970s conceal series "Curt Mother country on the Plain" which ran from 1974-1983. The series told the story of a pedigree living in the American West in the 1870s. Plotlines when all's said and done complex pedigree struggles which included a helpful element, and it was not changed to find the Ingalls pedigree leave-taking to the parish church, and the watering hole high priest eagerly complex in the relationships of the townspeople. This fracas of conceal wild animals reflected American culture in the 1970s and little 1980s. The situation is very original in the little twenty-first century.

Selected media outlets take pleasure in reported on a new series out of Canada fine "Curt Mosque on the Plain". As the Saskatchewan Information Relation reported, this the funny side "focuses on the inconsequential Muslim community in the little Plain parish of Mercy. Many of the town's populace are leery of their Muslim neighbours, who are unclear how to assimilate featuring in the community."

The idea continued by quoting the dramatist of the series who fixed, "I knew that something come close to this was leave-taking to get a lot of use," thought Nawaz. "It's the apex Muslim the funny side in North America. We're open new go ashore. At any time you're a paramount, and under the predominant fan conditions, it was leave-taking to take care of eyebrows."

The specter of this type of conceal conventional in North America is solemn in a post-9/11 home, not only politically, but besides in other cultural ways, and provides an stop for evangelicals to derive in wary concern. It provides a idea bit of priestly pluralism in the West which raises superior questions of theology, praxis, and cultural prosecution. Christians in America are second hand to living as a mass prospect in a Christendom culture. The specter of priestly pluralism and the budding booster of other religions featuring in the government square poses a dollar to evangelical conceptions of each one the ratio of Christianity to stately appearance, priestly sovereignty, the nitty granular of day-to-day living in the course of "priestly others," not to commit questions related to evangelism and missions.

For this reason far few segments of evangelicalism, whether traditional, in attendance or blossoming church, sound finished to seize the rank of priestly pluralism. It would sound that the disconcerted look over of Western culture may phantom us to seize its implications.

Gerald Gardner Formed The Wiccan Tradition

Gerald Gardner Formed The Wiccan Tradition
Wicca is often thought of as a pagan religion, which in a way it is? "Pagan" is a term that was invented by the Christian church. The term brands every religion that isn't Christian as pagan. The problem with people calling wicca a pagan religion (which according to the definition of paganism, it is) is that most people view the term as describing an ancient satanic religion (which it's not). Wicca is a new age religion and in actuality was only made into a mainstream religion in the 1940's.

Who Invented Wicca?

Gerald Gardner formed the wiccan tradition, but he didn't invent it. Wicca is basically a religion taken from the ancient traditions that the Celts and Druids practised. Gerald Gardner however gets the credit for forming these traditions into one religion (wicca) because though the traditions have been carried on since ancient times (usually in secret) nobody had ever really tried to connect all the different traditions practised by the Druids and Celts into one solid religion. The outcome of his work in bringing the traditions together, also allowed the resulting religion to become a mainstream religion. Wicca is one of the fastest growing religions today.

The Origins of Wicca

Wicca originated from the Celtic and Druid traditions. We call it the Druid and Celtic traditions because although they both practised traditions the rituals would often be separated in the deities that they worshipped and the ways that they worshiped.

In many Celtic and Druid traditions the female was superior and because of this the Goddess was worshipped as a main deity. In other traditions the male and female where equal and they thus worshipped both deities equally. And, in still other traditions they the Male was seen as superior and so the God was worshipped as the main deity.

What Effect Does This Have on Wiccan Spells

Because, wicca comes from the more nature-based traditions of the Celtic and Druid beliefs, wiccan spells will often rely upon natural items as focuses or tools in their spells and rituals.

The Natural items prevalent in wiccan spells are herbs, different types of wood, and stones. These things all held spiritual significance in the lives of early Celtic and Druid people.

This is the time of change.

This is the time of wonder.

Religion does not bring change.

Religion destroys the sense of wonder.

Religion is not courageous. It is fearful and cringing.

Religion is not loving. It is tyrannical and abusive.

Religion is not the truth, the way and the light.

It is lies, misdirection and darkness.

A cross on the wall and a nail in the coffin.

Both are resounding and final.

Both are found at the end of life.

I choose Life and Wonder over Fear and Regret.

Religion calls the brave man a coward and the wise man foolish.

Religion acts with self loathing and hatred towards itself.

Religion denies the nature of the universe and kills all hope.

Religion is man dreaming of his God.

Religion is man creating his creator.

Religion is the man made controller of man.

Life After Death Is There A Single Unified Consciousnesso The Mind When Someone Dies

Life After Death Is There A Single Unified Consciousnesso The Mind When Someone Dies
What happens to the mind when we die?

And where did the mind come from?

To an atheist or scientific materialist this question sounds nonsensical. To them, the mind dies when the brain dies. The mind is the brain and the brain is the mind. The brain, being a temporary and purely material object, takes the mind with it when we die.

But what if the universe itself were conscious, and a brain merely taps into that conscious web during its existence? Today I am going to discuss some ideas inspired by David Darlings excellent book, Equations of Eternity.

This is an idea that has merit not only scientifically, but spiritually. A biologist who was a scientific materialist would tell us that the brain is just a product of evolution, providing its owner with a tool that enhances survival. Organisms that have better brains are better suited to their environments, leave more offspring and so on. Over time, brains have become more complex because its advantageous to do so. Consciousness is no more than a mere accident, something that happened to come along arising out of complexity that happened to be very good at enhancing survival and reproduction.

But to see that consciousness might have a role beyond simply enhancing the survival and reproductive value of its owner, lets turn to the eastern religions. In particular some concepts from Hinduism can shed light on the nature and role of consciousness.

The first concept from Hinduism that is interesting to contemplate is that of "Maya". In a nutshell, Maya describes to what Hindus is an illusion: that is the world of objects and people around us are real. In other words, the material world you touch, see, and hear is an illusion. What is real if the objects and people of the world are illusions? According to this concept, our minds have made up and classified the objects we see in the material world. The universe does not really consist of individual, separate and unchanging objects. Instead the universe is one unbroken whole, and its is dynamic: the world is in constant flux.

In fact this idea is completely consistent with what modern science has taught us. As Lee Smolin wrote, the universe doesn't consist of objects, it consistes of processes. Everything around us is completely dynamic and in a constant state of change. Atoms and molecules assemble, dissolve, and reassemble in different ways. People are born, live, and die. Species evolve and change into something completely different as time passes. Even the sun evolved and will eventually die.

Not only that, but in reality there are no separate objects in the universe. Physics tells us that the universe can be seen as having a kind of dualism. This is not strictly the "Wave-particle" dualism of the quantum theory. Instead we call on quantum field theory, which tells us that the universe doesn't really consist of discrete, hard particles. What is really real, at a fundamental level are fields which fill all of spacetime. This is consistent with Maya.

That isn't to say particles, objects, or people aren't real. But we acknowledge that their particular form is transitory-and nothing ever really didn't exist or was born or ceases to exists or dies-instead "things" in the universe are part of an ever-changing process. The atoms and molecules in your body always existed-they have done so since the beginning of time. Could it be that the mind or and individual is part of a universal consciousness field, and that an arrangement of atoms can reveal it, rather than cause it to come forth through some vague concept like "emergence" from a materialist world?

So from the perspective of Hinduism, we face the fact that individuals are temporary and transient in nature, but at the same time we are part of an unbroken whole which has always been here-the universe. The Hindu calls this unbroken whole "Brahman".

Something else to think about is how can it be that consciousness just arose in a dead universe? For consciousness to arise from the universe, consciousness must be part of the universe itself. Nothing can happen in the universe that does not violate the laws of physics. Here are a couple of quotes from Darling's book to help you think about the ideas here:

"Each of us is a microcosm of nature, and in more than one sense. First, the same processes-the same types of particles and the forces that act between them-occur in our bodies as in the universe at large. Second, through our minds we reconstruct and mirror in abstract form that which lies outside ourselves. And third, most intriguingly, our own personal evolution parallels the evolution of life on earth."

I would like to add to that that our own brains mirror what the universe at large is doing. A universe that produces conscious minds has at its core consciousness and mind as one of its fundamental properies. This goes back to the Hindu ideas-God died and became the universe-which becomes God again.

Remember too the notion-no the fact--that the universe is an unbroken whole. Another intriguing quote from Darling:

"Whatever a newborn child does, the universe at large does also, because a human baby-like everything else-is an intrinsic part of the cosmos. That may seem like a strange claim to make, but it is logically and physically sound. A factory in which cars are made is a car-making factory. A planet on which there is life is a living planet because the life-forms are a part and a product of the world's substance. And, on the grandest of all scales, if there is sentience within the cosmos then the cosmos itself is sentient. So we may reasonably view an infant's dawning awareness on two levels: as a consciousness arising in the individual, and, simultaneously in the universe as a whole."

This is deep stuff here. Also think about this. As the population has increased and as computers become more intelligent, the universe at large becomes more conscious. Or was that concsiousness already there, and merely being mapped into the form of individuals?

Its hard to say what these ideas mean for life after death-that is discrete survival of the individual-but its clear that there may be a universal web of consciousness that exists throughout space and for all time.

Spirituality Careful What You Pray For

Spirituality Careful What You Pray For
As I've mentioned on many occasions, the merit together with prayer and magick is overall one of way with words. The same as display are some highbrow distinctions as well, such as the promote complex forms employed by ritual magicians alongside the far-sighted method that greatest systems of prayer remain to attach, the basic essence is the fantastically - the recruitment of spiritual armed to assign scheduled time in the world. Plea does largely hold tight upon a deity, but any school of magick that incorporates theurgy all the rage its finances does the fantastically thing, reasonable in a promote total way.

Maintain in April, Texas Supervisor Crick Perry affirmed a "weekend of prayer" for rain that would softness the long-lasting aridness in his state. The have a row of that weekend were not flattering, even if to be fair as a authentic weather worker I can say with some self-confidence that the view in Texas has been pleasing difficult all summer in terms of weather patterns for heavy rain. If there's no moisture in the air you can't imagine rain, even if you can administer to sneak atmospheric fronts physically with impunity.

The thing is, that at the same time as all the elements are confer it's prime to be planned. It's all too easy to start everything way promote powerful and potentially spiteful than you would like, and past a big cyclone gets going it's in general urgent to chance until it runs its course. This go weekend at the Roman Catholic Church's world insignificant fair in Madrid, Spain sultry heat led the musical organizers to pray for rain. The have a row were a lot promote imposing than public in Texas - a freak thunderstorm hurdle the Pope to cut irritable his squeal amidst the rain and lightning.

In vogue the day, firefighters atop fire trucks had sprayed the crowds with water from hoses as pilgrims required observe from umbrellas, grass, tarps and tents in a bid to stave off the in the neighborhood 40^0C heat.

As night compress, a roll deluge soaking the crowd: In the midst of lightning in the night sky, the 84-year-old Pope was hurdle to bop the association of his squeal and individual qualify swift greetings in a half-dozen languages.

Organisers told the majority that they had asked for promote water stylish the day at the same time as it was so hot and their prayers were answered. "In the midst of this rain, the Member of the aristocracy sends us plentiful blessings," Pope Benedict quipped at the same time as he resumed his cut annotations.

Until now, the cyclone proved far away convincing than the organizers sincere inescapable, causing some abating to the locale miserable with a few injuries in enlargement to onerous the Pope off the knock down.

Six inhabit were perfectly distressed at the same time as a spectator area warped. A variety of unrehearsed chapels set up on the field's maximum value were excessively cracked, forcing organisers to publicize from end to end loudspeakers that not each person would be gifted to agree to Communion stylish the central Cosmos Insignificant Day Side.

By a long shot there's eternally some magick in the finances of the Roman Catholic Clerical, but in the forward-looking it sounds feel affection for they select to be a small promote planned how they boom it. Either that, or God's reasonable less than fair with the popular run and desired to send them a announcement.

Wolf Urges Holder To Investigate Oklahoma Beheading As Terrorist Attack And Not Dismiss As Workplace Violence

Wolf Urges Holder To Investigate Oklahoma Beheading As Terrorist Attack And Not Dismiss As Workplace Violence
Washington, D.C. (September 30, 2014) - Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA), chairman of the House Appropriations subcommittee that funds the Department of Justice, today sent the following letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to investigate the recent beheading in Oklahoma as a terrorist attack and to not just quickly dismiss it as workplace violence like was done in the Fort Hood terrorist attack in 2009:

The Honorable Eric H. Holder, Jr.
Attorney General
U.S. Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Ave NW Rm 5111
Washington DC 20530

Dear Attorney General Holder:

Later today, the Cleveland County, Oklahoma district attorney's office is expected to seek charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon against Alton Nolen for his beheading of a woman and stabbing of another at a food processing plant in Oklahoma last week.В  I am writing today to urge the Justice Department to continue to investigate this decapitation as terrorism and not be quick to just dismiss this as "workplace violence," as this administration notoriously did in the case of the 2009 terrorist attack on Fort Hood, which left 13 dead and more than 30 wounded.

It has been reported that over the past two years Nolen was becoming radicalized.В  According to CNN, his Facebook page "included images of Osama bin Laden and an apparent beheading," and his social media posts became "almost exclusively related to Islam in April 2013 - shortly after he was released from prison."В  He also reportedly got into trouble at work for "trying to convert co-workers to Islam," according to CNN.

In the wake of the department's failure to "connect the dots" between Anwar Aulaqi and Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Hasan, it is more important than ever for you to make clear to the department's agents and attorneys that this is, in fact, terrorism and to determine whether this or other plots are part of an effort by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) or al Qaeda to radicalize Americans and direct attacks in the U.S.

Whether the Nolen investigation ultimately shows that he communicated directly with terrorists abroad or was independently inspired by the recent ISIS beheading videos, there is no question that this attack represents a direct threat from radicalized Islamist extremists to the American people.В

We cannot again let political correctness drive this investigation and prosecution, as this administration did in charging Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Hasan with "workplace violence" instead of terrorism.В  Then, as now, authorities sought to downplay the Islamic radicalization of the perpetrator in the months leading up to the attack, as well as any outside influence from terrorist groups.В  As we all know now, Anwar Aulaqi played a key role in the radicalization of Hasan and al Qaeda propaganda motivated his terrorist attack - something the FBI failed to connect prior to the attack, as detailed in the Webster Commission report.В

Over the last several years, I have met, spoken with and corresponded with a number of the family members of the victims and survivors of the Fort Hood attack.В  Each has been adversely impacted by the administration's misguided prosecution, which resulted in the denial of many of the benefits they would have received if the attack had been designated as terrorism. However, to a person, they all also feel the government has denied them an honest representation of Hasan's motivations for his attack.В  This injustice continues to this day, as Hasan just last month asked ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghadadi to make him a citizen of the so-called "Islamic State" - yet the U.S. government still doesn't recognize his attack as an act of terrorism.В

It would be bad enough if this political correctness was limited to Fort Hood, but we have seen a number of examples over the last decade where cases that should have been charged as terrorism were instead treated as criminal matters: Ali Muhammad Brown's August 2014 murder of a 19 year-old New Jersey man allegedly committed in retaliation for U.S. actions in the Middle East; Carlos Bledsoe's attack on a U.S. Army recruiting station in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2009; and Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar's 2006 attack on pedestrians in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where he declared himself a jihadist acting against the U.S.В  These are just a few examples of the government failing to acknowledge the Islamist terrorist motivation of these deadly attacks.В

We should avoid going down this path with Nolen.В  His attack is the latest incident in a string of horrific beheading attacks, which are an emerging hallmark of radical Islamist terrorism, whether in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Middle East, Europe, and now, here in the United States.В  For more than a decade, beheadings have been used by al Qaeda to draw attention to their murder of Westerners, such as journalist Daniel Pearl in Pakistan in 2002, contractor Nicholas Berg in Iraq in 2004 and British Army soldier Lee Rigby in London in 2013, as well as to strike fear in their opponents.В  More recently, this heinous act has been embraced by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) as they have released gruesome videos of the beheading of U.S. and British journalists, as well as less well known videos displaying scores of Syrian soldiers' heads on pikes.В  As some have noted in recent days, Nolen's attack marks the first time a jihadist has committed a beheading on American soil, a deeply troubling milestone. В

As The Washington Post's Walter Pincus this morning pointed out, ISIS' ability to broadcast its messages of violence around the globe instantaneously is part of a campaign to radicalize, recruit and mobilize more terrorists.В  Pincus notes, ISIS is "active on social media, it has pamphlets, weekly illustrated magazines, billboards, T-shirts, baseball hats and even propaganda offices in Syria and Iraq. The Islamic State has expanded the message machine, too, particularly since the United States began its air attacks against the terrorist group's forces in Iraq on Aug. 8."В

This is all to instill fear in Americans.В  Consider this from Pincus' piece this morning:

"One of the most recent examples of Islamic State propaganda came in a Sept. 21 speech by its chief spokesman, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, broadcast in Arabic, translated into many languages and placed on social media around the world.

"Adnani sprinkles his 42-minute, 12-page speech with disparaging descriptions of U.S. officials that are bound to be circulated among jihadist fighters, with whom they will resonate.В  Obama is called a 'mule of the Jews,' and Secretary of State John F. Kerry is called an 'uncircumcised old geezer.'

"Addressing Americans, Adnani says: 'The Islamic State did not institute a war against you, as your governments and media try to make you believe.'

"He adds that the United States 'will pay the price' when its economy collapses and 'you will pay the price when your sons are sent to wage a war against us and they return to you as disabled amputees, or inside coffins or mentally ill.'

"Then he adds that Americans, 'will pay the price as you walk on your streets, turning right and left, fearing the Muslims. You will not feel secure even in your bedrooms. You will pay the price when this crusade of yours collapses and thereafter we will strike you in your homeland you will never be able to harm anyone afterwards.'"

We owe it to Traci Johnson and the family of Colleen Hufford to acknowledge this brutal killing as an act of terror committed by a man radicalized and influenced by terrorist groups like al Qaeda and ISIS.В  The department also has an obligation to ensure it never again repeats the mistakes of Fort Hood by allowing political correctness to prevent action from being taken to stop a would-be jihadist.В  I hope you and the department will do the right thing, rather than repeat the shameful mistakes of the Fort Hood investigation and prosecution. В

Best wishes.

Sincerely, В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В  В
