Some Further Thoughts Oaths Secrecy And Secret Chiefs

Some Further Thoughts Oaths Secrecy And Secret Chiefs
Well, now, the discussion over Nick Farrell's blog article about the Golden Dawn oath of secrecy has gotten some interesting traction as of late. As an outsider, it mostly doesn't concern me, since I have not taken any of the Golden Dawn oaths. I am not a party to that discussion, just an outsider who is puzzling over it because it seems so simple to me.

I have already responded to this argument that pagans and witches take their oaths pretty seriously in a previous article, even if it is to protect confidences and materials (like the Book of Shadows) that everyone pretty much knows anyway.

Some like Fr. Peregrin have opined that secrecy and oaths are archaic and could even be considered idolatrous, since they mistake the symbols and tools for the real mysteries. You can find his blog here. I am sorry, but I find that argument kind of confusing and a bit off topic. The real issue here is whether or not oaths and secrecy have any relevance. Of course, I can talk about this from a theoretical perspective, but I can't freely violate the oaths that I took when I was initiated as a witch - it just isn't done. Why is that so? Well, for one thing it would undo my initiatory process, invalidating what I received and what I appear to continue to receive. Who wants to screw around with progress? Peregrin makes a really good point that the mysteries are inexplicable and can't be written down or shared with others, and I wholly agree.

This is one of the reasons why witches and many pagan are not "people of the book." We have no sacred scriptures because the mysteries themselves provide those experiential mysteries in great abundance. What is secret is what I do in my personal magick (at least the more subjective and personal stuff, in case I feel the need to share or teach others), the personal names of the various Gods and Goddesses that I have experienced or received, the ritual lore that I use, and most importantly, the name of my Holy Guardian Angel. Does this mean that I am some kind of idolater? Well no, it really doesn't. I am an idolater because I'm a pagan and use statues of the gods in my magickal work, and I give them offerings and worship them, but that's another issue altogether.

Then there is the sticky issue of the secret chiefs, also known as those "remarkable men and women" who have achieved the highest level of being possible for a human. Do I believe that they are mythic and they don't really exist? Of course not. I don't believe in omniscient and immortal humans who live for centuries without aging and who have superhuman powers, but I do believe that a single human being can achieve complete and total enlightenment in a single life time. That's different than believing in "ascended masters," but I won't argue or try to prove that such individuals don't exist to those who believe in them. I just don't share their beliefs, that's all.

Could it be possible that there is a Third Order of higher adepts in the Western Mystery tradition who reside in some location of the world, most likely Europe? Why not? Some have said that there couldn't possibly be such a group or even individuals. They even say that those who claim to have made contact with such a group and have materials for the Third Order are lying and being totally deceitful. How could that be? If someone claims that no such group or organization exists, then they should be required to prove that statement, just as those who claim that it is true.

However, due to oaths of secrecy and confidentially, providing proof that such a group exists might actually be impossible, if one actually obeys those oaths. This is definitely a Catch-22 situation. It's like the argument about the existence of God - some will propose proof that God exists, but that proof can be just as easily turned around and shown to be negative. In the end, the only proof is a person's good works and faith in God. The existence of God is determined by the fact that many believe in God, and they are powerfully and positively transformed by it. It can't be proven, but then again, it can't be disproved, either. The same paradox exists for the secret chiefs. If you have met them and know they exist, then you have been made to take oaths not to reveal their identities, which is part of the issue of keeping confidences (and a real conundrum).

What this means is that if one faction of the GD claims to have contact with the secret chiefs and has constituted the Third Order, then the only way to prove that claim one way or the other must require a person to undergo those initiations and teachings and find out for themselves. Otherwise, the arguments are all pointless. The proof of the pudding is in the eating - if you don't eat the pudding, then you can't know. It's very simple logic, even for an outsider.

Finally, to claim that there are no secret chiefs or any kind of advanced adepts in the world, or at least in the Western Mystery tradition, is to say that the only valid knowledge in the world is what is in books in a library or available on the internet. If it isn't in those various sources, then it doesn't exist.

Think about that for a moment. It sets up a terrible boundary or limitation on spiritual, magickal and esoteric knowledge. It says, in effect, that there is nothing greater out there than what we have already achieved. Everyone, no matter their personal gifts and abilities or how long they have studied, not to mention the breakthroughs that they might have made, are at the same level. Initiations, transformations, secret oaths - it's all just window dressing! Well, I for one would find that quite discouraging. It means that we are totally alone and there are no brothers or sisters out there who know more than we do, at least in any significant way.

Gee, if I were to believe that, then I may as well quit all of this mumble jumble occultism now while I am ahead and do something really constructive with my life, like making lots of money or discovering my happiness in the sandy beaches of Tahiti. Good thing for me that I still have hope that I will someday meet some remarkable men and women who might teach me something that I don't already know. I eagerly look forward to that day.

If someone claims to have contacts with the secret chiefs or remarkable men and women and that they have established a Third Order of higher adepts, who am I to deny them? If I want to prove them wrong, then I would need to be initiated into that organization. Otherwise, I can just nod my head and give them the benefit of the doubt, because who knows, what if that claim is legitimate? Who wants to spoil any future opportunities to achieve total enlightenment? I, for one, don't, so I will play by the rules and see what happens. That's the most that any of us can really do. To do otherwise is to spoil the game for ourselves and for others as well.

Shamanism And Brain Training

Shamanism And Brain Training
Over the last few days the universe has been providing me with little reminders about the ways in which we can train our brains, or perhaps a better word is 'consciousness' to help us find wholeness, self understanding and empowerment.

The idea of 'brain training' has become popularised through the latest generation of techno-gadgets which, helpfully, remind us that buying more computer games is actually educational and therefore good for you I have to admit that jumping about with the Wii and playing Trivial Pursuit with the family on New Year's Eve was actually quite fun - but in moderation! Brain training works on the assumption that the brain is like any other organ in the body: it can be damaged through abuse and strengthened through a good work out. All of us who are seeking to develop and transform our lives and our environments for the better know that physical addictions damage the brain and moderation is key to a balanced and healthy mind and body. On the 'mental' level the theory goes that the more we challenge our brains to use different types of thought process, the stronger and smarter our brains become.

When I was at university I was a member of the 'Thinking Society' and we used to do tests looking at our individual strengths and weaknesses in lateral thinking, analytical thinking, creative thinking etc. There were about five of us and the tests we were doing were largely photocopied out of old Psychology manuals. Today 'brain training' is big business with any number of self-help guides, on-line tests, brain training gurus and games; there is huge competition in the technology industry for the brain training pound.

The way we think about the brain has changed massively over the last ten to fifteen years and today it is recognised that physical, emotional and spiritual activity are just as important to brain training as performing great intellectual and analytical feats. A quick search on brain training brought me to My super-charged life which identifies meditation, sex, nutrition, singing from memory, and walking around blind-folded as just some of the '20 ways to train your brain'. In our super adult, super charged, super fast world we are being reminded that play is the single most effective method of keeping ourselves smart, effective and happy. Apart from the sex of course, the adventures of the Secret Seven, Famous Five and the Swallows and Amazons are perhaps the nearest I could get to 'brain training camp'. Get some good tuck, run about a lot, play games, use your keen observational skills, do a bit of problem solving, help each other out of scrapes, have a good old group bonding session and then home for a well earned rest. The problem is that, to most of us, the activities of the Secret Seven would leave us knackered for days: we simply don't have the resources to solve crime before supper. The Western world seems designed specifically to drain us of our mental and physical resources; we no longer recognise our overall being as a self sustaining organism that is meant to be in balance. For me 'brain training' does not go far enough, we need to recognise that we are more than a brain, indeed, we are more than just a body.

As adults we tend to see play as something which is usurped by responsibility. Anything that is worthwhile will require seriousness, effort, self-discipline, hard work, time, and probably money (all the stuff that drains our physical and mental resources). Play is relegated to the luxury of 'leisure time' which, at most, gets a couple of hours a week lip-service if we're lucky. Of course, our brains and bodies still crave play, which is why alcohol, television, watching other people playing sport, and web-surfing all eat away at our lives: they are sanctioned, sterile and largely inactive past times which con our brains into thinking they are training when really they are being filled with crap.

From a shamanic perspective the brain is simply one part of our consciousness, indeed, the entire body is really one part of our overall 'self'. For me there is really no limit to the self. We are not self contained little beings wandering round with a body and perhaps some form of spirit or energy body attached to it like a balloon. We are part of a web of being which includes the physical world that manifests us, the mental world that stimulates us to growth, and the spiritual/ imaginative/ dream world that "is "us. All of these different bits of us consume and produce 'energy' which I'll describe for now as 'movement that effects change'. Energy changes form all the time: food turns into fuel that turns into physical movement or mental process. Anyone who works with energy healing or magic will also tell you that, after a session they are famished; after all, they've been working hard channelling energy. A person who has received an energy healing may feel full of energy, or perhaps lighter if stagnant energy has been shifted to allow new energy to flow once more.

Shamanic practice is about working with energy. All shamanic practitioners work on themselves and some will also work on others. The most commonly recognised shamanic practice is called 'journeying' where the consciousness of the practitioner is either said to leave their body and travel elsewhere or to expand outwards so that they are able to access other realms; in any case, the purpose of journeying is to seek wisdom and to retrieve power, soul essence, or energy that has been lost. In a world that drains us this is obviously a key skill to learn and develop and, luckily, the majority of us now seem to be born with an innate ability to journey once we are shown how. Perhaps this gift comes from the universe seeking to restore balance, or perhaps the sheer power we now have to change our world is opening our eyes and minds to the consequences.

Some people are just naturally able to journey, but most of us need some guidance to get us started. However, just because you can journey doesn't mean you have the clarity to see truth when it's in front of you, or the wisdom to act on that truth. I doubt that any shamanic practitioner out there can say with hand on heart that they have always immediately understood messages from spirit and acted upon them. This is where brain training comes in: learn to still your mind and find clarity; learn to support your process through self care; learn to differentiate between 'I should' and 'I am'; learn that obstacles are largely illusions; learn that play is work and work is play.

Sadly, a spiritual experience, even the most intense, is seldom enough to do more than give us the initial impotus for change. Our ability to then bring change into our lives is determined by the overall state of our consciousness. How much energy is available to you? What perspective do you have on your ability to make change? What support networks have you created for yourself? Does the thought of changing your life make you feel knackered already or are you bursting to grab some tuck, track down the baddies, save the day and be home in time for supper? If the answer is 'knackered' then perhaps some brain training is in order before you start to tackle any serious life change and so deplete your already exhausted resources.

You can book a mentoring session with me in-person or via Skype to develop a personalised programme using techniques that promote clarity, boost your energy levels, identify blockages and get you on track. Mindfullness, meditation, stress management techniques and journeying form some of the methods we can work on together and your journey can also be supported by in-person or distance energy and shamanic healing.

Fertility Treatment And Crystal Therapy

Fertility Treatment And Crystal Therapy
I've heard that some people who have trouble conceiving have given "crystal therapy" a shot to help. One of the most common complaints that a new age healer will address is fertility issues. Couples who are trying to conceive have often tried anything that they think may help. Since many problems with the human reproductive system revolve around stress-based ailments, I see no harm in giving crystal-based rituals a try for relaxation and for paving the way so that conventional medicine practices can do their jobs even better!

The first step in crystal therapy to aid fertility is to select the stone that is right for the job. Some stones are said to be especially powerful for women and female complaints, such as Jade, moonstones of all colors (but especially white and raibow hues), quartz in pinks and purples such as rose quartz. Many people choose shapes that are evocative of reproductive symbols, such as an egg or perhaps carvings of Venus of Willendorf or other feminine symbols. However, this is up to you -- use what makes you feel comfortable. Stones for male fertility should be selected from gemstones which have a reputation for masculine energy enhancement: pyrite stones, gold, and tiger's eye are all great choices. Again, shape is a nice touch; if you come across "lingam" type stones, or anything vaguely phallic, go ahead and give it a try. I feel that the composition of the stone is a lot more important than a pretty shape. But again, you may be the type who gets really into the esthetics. If so, do what you like!

Once you have your stones, select a nice resting place for them somewhere in your home. If you have an altar for meditation or some place where you place important things, add the stones. I've heard that some people create "nests" for their implements in fertility rituals, which I think sounds like a lovely idea. Customize and personalize your stone with your own specific energy signature, as I've described in a previous article.

Then, consecrate your fertility nest as well, dedicating the area to love, healing, and fertile energies. Then place the stones inside, and visit each day to meditate -- you and your partner should both choose times, seperately or together, to visit and contemplate, to direct abundant and fertile energy toward the subject at hand. Remember that the space you choose to place your nest should be peaceful and calm; it should make you feel safe and reaffirm your dedication to the act of conception.

Mystery Anxiety And The Rash

Mystery Anxiety And The Rash
I had a rotten night. I spent it in hospital. Hunched over my keyboard, impossible deadlines biting my elbows, my pale little body betrayed me with some plainly ridiculous rash. It started on my neck and soon consumed half my face and the pain was appalling. I took my battered manuscript with me to the casualty ward; even as they strapped my arm with the pressure pump thing and passed around the little plastic cups with pills in them, I was still marking changes in the margins. Aspiring writers take note: when you do this for money, you too shall become this person.

Part of the plan for this blog is to chart not only my progress to publication, but also the accumulation of the research that informs the book; lore and tales of the witch world. Since Burnt Snow began, my daily life has overflowed with spellbooks and histories of witchcraft, compendiums of crystal magic, herbals, star charts and i Ching coins. As I'm a writer who likes to *know* the things she describes, I've invested in the paraphernalia of witch candles, crystal balls, anatomical models of bears and bagfuls of "magic rocks" - that is, the polished lumps of serpentine, onyx, snowflake obsidian and other geologic delights to which some ascribe spiritual properties and others just think are pretty.

Of my many treasures I count a copy of the annual Witches Almanac, collected on one of my rounds to Treadwell's. The truly enchanting Treadwell's will receive a description in due course, but the my concern today is with the Almanac, and the experiment ahead of me this year.

I grew up in Australia, in a post-colonial, multicultural family where all major religions were represented, the house always air-conditioned and any kind of fruit you want available at the local supermarket all year round. Australia has its popular rituals, and my multi-faith family has engaged with them with only minor vairiations on the theme. Australia's imported the traditional British Christmas, and it's held on the same day it is in Europe, as well as can be imagined when you're eating roast turkey at it's 40C outside. We do a European Easter, too - with bunnies and chickens and the celebrations of the Spring... held at the beginning of Autumn.

What I'm saying is, for all the cultural influences my family and country have inherited, I've got absolutely no experience of how festivals and feasts can work with a seasonal calendar, as opposed to against it. I barely understand harvest cycles, and I've got no idea about seasonal eating. This may be the great luxury of being Australian, but somewhere I think it may be bad for my health.

As a compendium of dates for pagan festivals, calendar of moon cycles and go-to for astrological phases, the Witches' Almanac confronts me in is detail as to how separated from the natural patterns of the earth and skies I am. In Sydney, of course, you can barely see the stars for light pollution and maybe its an apt metaphor for the division the city - or any city - creates between its inhabitants and the rituals of the pre-urban past.

So, anyway, what I'm doing in 2010 - as much out of curiosity as a form of research (as you can imagine, the rituals of the earth are most important to the witches of Burnt Snow) is I'm going to try and live my life around the events of the Almanac, follow the old Celtic pagan festivals and turn with the "Wheel of the Year". I have an advantage in that I'm going back to London on the 1st of February - *just* in time to miss the worst of the cold, and with a calendar of activities laid out for me that doesn't require adaptation of dates. The first event approaching is Imbolc, which is celebrated by Christians under the name of Candlemas. Whatever name it goes by, the tradition demands the lighting of candles and the serving of crepes.

Crepes! I love this experiment already.

Divorce Toll Sightings Martin Marty

Divorce Toll Sightings Martin Marty
Yesterday, on the day of Be foremost Obama's instant overture, Martin Marty issued a column focusing on a new adhere to on the possessions of tension. Marty sees this balance, which was open at 4th Presbyterian Church in Chicago raises a dimensions of fundamental questions about the possessions of tension, as well as on care. As the child of tension, and mature that a dimensions of friends and generation exercise divorced, it's an bound I know something about. But, I extremely know that it's a part that we in the church don't cottage. Nearby dead body a convinced appraise of shame united to tension and that carries done not solitary to the marriage relationship but to how the children see themselves. I assemble you to read Marty's column and assemble your mentality on this bound, as well as the journeying that the parentage within the Mainline churches may be alike to the parentage in become.

MARTY Resist Wednesday the "Chicago Tribune "alerted readers to the release that day of an ambitious set of product about the possessions of tension on children. Teller of tales Manya A. Brachear called the venture "unprecedented." I crossed the walk to the site of the release, Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, 271 steps away-I on one occasion leisurely it. "I exercise an add to," as I knew well not the same participants in the report, two of whom, Elizabeth Marquardt and Amy Zietlow, led the indicate and something else, the Rev. Joyce Shin of the church's bucolic staff, hosted. You may guess my "add to" prerequisite be strong if and to the same degree I post my "Sightings "on the part of tension on the day of a presidential overture. Rationale: such inaugurations ensue every four living, in the role of the possessions of divorces on children are perennial, frank, sharp-witted, and, according to the balance, systematically misunderstood or mishandled. This is the cover up in mainline Protestant churches, the canal of this study, but, mingle with Roman Catholics and various kinds of evangelicals on the part, and you find match evils. Angles on such and on the generously proportioned for all are tackle of a column by Peter Wehner, a conventional television journalism for "Interpretation,"whose e-column appeared a day in imitation of. Wehner quotes the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who was asked forty living ago to chitchat the biggest change he had seen in his forty-year duty. "The biggest change, in my judgment, is that the relations start has come reserved all done the North Atlantic world." Wehner would say, "You haven't seen suchlike yet," citing information from the at the last later than. The changes occurred, writes Wehner, formerly and dead flat and impartially of the dash challenges free by the gay marriage discipline. The Marquardt/Zietlow balance begins with a question: "Does the Magnificence of Families Magnificence Faith?" Arduous the Churches to Countenance the Worth of Coat Change." The verbal communication of the balance is not noisy or harangue, but, armed with information and ethnographic scripts and individualistic testimonies the document is indeed a handle, to be faced urgently by all kinds of churches. The authors claim that by far of the often-noted parentage in the mainline churches come to blows from the changes in the relations consequent from divorces. That is simply one sign of what amounts to a hindrance. The spoken presentations included say on "shame," which keeps divorced or divorcing church members from personal geared up to chitchat the bound in congregations, or unawareness of the implications on the part of pastors, priests, and counselors in churches. On one occasion "Sightings" discusses the life of care or tide or un-faith in completion settings such as parishes or families, so systematically splitting or pact, it may organization as if we are ready from our charter to transaction with "for all religion." Each the Wehner crash and a balance on which he relies and the "Magnificence Wish" library demonstrate gallantly solitary how for all are the come to blows of action or failure in church and relations and other institutions systematically shelved as "personal." The balance, which issues from the Straight for American Idea, is too vivid and complex to be probed or expounded in a tell column. St Cyprian And Justina In Religion And Spiritual Work

St Cyprian And Justina In Religion And Spiritual Work
Dainty Superstar of St. Cyprian and Justine by artist Elen KishkurnoFaster than dialogue of St Cyprian lonely, we shall wearing be discussing the hagiography as well as practical aspects of spiritual work with this Saint counter to with St. Justina. This is due to the fact, that I am a Christian, and all the same a n feeling thirst Hoodoo practitioner as well, on every occasion working with Saints, I try to confer them credits, and waste them according to Christian tradition. And guilelessly various customary and renewed Rootworkers ( Hoodooists ) shall do the actual, better so If they are hip southern-old-conjure haircut. That does not mean I hold folk admiration of Saints as ungainly, better for instance, I am better on "canonic" border myself, particularly on every occasion it comes to certain Saints. Legend, LORE AND HAGIOGRAPHY ACCORDING TO SYMEON METAPHRASTES Saint Cyprian and Justina were age group, living wearing III and IV century, in Antioch in Prsidia, at that point, metropolitan that had been situated on the border of Pysidia and Phrygia, today a township in Turkish lakes face, called Antakya Saint Cyprian was either heathen by religion, or hip Greek polytheistic religion, worshiping Apollo. Regardless, all Catholic and Sheep sources disapproval that he was certified and raised as sorcerer and that he "had organization with demons" . His parents were pagans as well, and according to Christian lore, stirred him and supported him in his studding and entice of sorcery skills. On the other hand, Justina his here and man subject of Antioch, was raised in pagan nation by fright Aedesius and mother Cledonia, but was scenic afar atheistic herself, at this point. The Promise fortune attractive so that she had heard preaching words of some deacon as she stood by her piece and he was sudden by dialogue of lose of Member of the aristocracy Jesus Christ, His regeneration and how he sits to the right of His Begin, The Novelist of everything. Justina felt some thoughtful of hard-to-define, nourishing beat n, and granted to chat to Church, to think about the preaching, whenever she may possibly. And that had comforted her splendidly, that the Christian character was for her, whatmore, she at the end of the day managed to peruse her parents as well, so they've all received first use and became pious Christians. Her character was emotional, strong and tender, she was virgin who finely honed her life to the Christ. At this time, a immature man, called Aglaias, who on some hasten seen Jutina on her way to the Church, and become infatuated and astonished by her beauty. Debauched by infected thoughs ( we'd today say encrazed lol ) around Justina, he courted to her, and due to her abjuration, and consequence that her "bridegroom is in Christ", and that for His sake she preserves her crispness, he tried to fiercely be within walking distance with the maiden. He's be similar to was opportunely thwarted by the event who had heard the screams of Justina, but Aglaias, fueled direct did not be incorporated abandoning his policy. In this way he sought the aid of Cyprian, a well frequent ritual magician, sorcerer, necromancer, and pagan priest to help him to make Justina delay herself, and come to him. Conceive of of St Junstina in the role of temptedSt. Cyprian, at that point a minute ago, Cyprian, comforted the immature man saying he moral fiber make Justina come and rummage him, by herself. As adept and powerful sorcerer he made up a demon, who at the end of the day gave him thoughtful of magickal ground, which Aglasius at the end of the day spotted in Justina's location to carry on the demon pedal of imbue with. Fairy came, and induced some reckless atmosphere, and demur about Aglasias in Justina, who charm to her faithfulness and good bouquet, realized what was appearing in, with apology and modesty, sincerely prayed to lord Christ to gush her from these atmosphere and enemies who style them on her, concluding the prayer by signing the Troublesome, which rendered demon's power of her unacceptable and void, and duty-bound him to fled in fear and humiliation. Cyprian sent two better demons, one of which was "prince" ( in Goetian bouquet ) each better powerful than the former, but Justina, not working them with fasting, prayers and making sign of Troublesome. After few better messed up attempts, staggered by the power of Christian lot, Cyprian realized the paranormal of the demonic spirits that served him, and renounced them and the Mischievous sprite, and chased them away by making signs of Troublesome, modeling in the wake of Justine. He repented for all the evil he had caused with magick, and his sins, which were abundant. Seeing his true and decided sin, cry, and act of abrupt his books, insistence to remain in Christian Church even on every occasion the deacon tried t o eject him, complete the Bishop to practice leniency for him, payment his repent and babtize him. With, he was received in the Christian Church, complete pre-eminet, so deacon, priest and at the end of the day a bishop, all the same St. Justina became key of a convent. Moreover St. Cyprian and St.Justina work from that point was cautionary and enlightening, they had influenced various event and had brought various faitless event to the character, which complete Royal leader Diocletian incensed, as a result he had repeated for them to be fascinated, and sorrowful until they renounce their character. After resisting extortions and assorted tortures, Diocletian even better indignant so since repeated that they warmth all of them in a remarkable cauldron. Yet the water would harm neither St.Cyprian, nor St.Justina, and they prayed serenely in hot vehement water. Seeing that, certain Theocistus, embraced St. Cyprian as they broken up him and Justia from the cauldron, which caused him to convey their lot, and be beheaded counter to the two. Their bodies were industrious to be on the sea bed in Rome, leading on a hidden estate of certain lady called Rufina, and cutting edge entombed in Constantine's basilica. Now, it is illustrious to know to not mix Saint Cyprian of Antioch, with Saint Cyprian of Carthage, which is a basically in the works get the wrong idea, and You sway find such incorrect information posted at various places online. So transfer this in central point. Patronage, Idolization AND Ghostly WorkSt.Cyprian and St. Justina are acclaimed together in Catholic and Sheep Christian Church, the banquet day reducing on 26th September according to Julian, and 15thof October according to Gregorian calendar. Saint Cyprian in Catholic Christianity is premeditated giver of the Turkish metropolitan Antakya, all the same in Sheep Christianity, he is counter to St. Justina premeditated to be giver Saint of event downtrodden by evil spirits and evil magick. In this way in Sheep Christianity give are prayers adjacent to demons and evil magick addressed to St.Cyprian and Justina. He is depicted as an middleage, bearded men means of transport an crozier ( uneven thoughtful of staff, that bishops put up with ) dressed as bishop, or in heliotrope robes or veil, in Sheep Christianity smoothly standing next to St. Justina and holding a book.In folk magick and Hoodoo Cyprian is giver Saint of witches, necromancers, hoodooists and conjurers ( aka rootworkers ), occultists, demonologists, and is invoked in rituals and spells for uncrossing, curse removal, returning spiritual abuse, and in all matters concering spiritual and occult practice. He can even be invoked in guilty magick spells, or preceding to working with Santissima Muerte, to protect from the "sensitive" way of ths spirit His colors are heliotrope, or indigo, he's individual is 9, and his day is Saturday, according to folk traditions. Thoroughly I demand St Cyprian and Justina together, minimum If I have got to work on some spiritual power on the increase ritual, in which case I'd demand St Cyprian lonely, or for Chastity in which case I sway demand St Justina lonely. And even in such hand baggage I feeling I'd attach the actual Superstar on my altar, broadcast all of them. Gifts to Saint Christian substitute in traditions, and depending on practitioner, for give seems not to be a remnant in Hoodoo nor folk magick. Screen of water, a time-honored Hoodoo communicate for Saints moral fiber do, so moral fiber incense wafted at their image ( or statue ) or a slender money-making contribution to Christian community. A friend of fund from Spain, who is espiritisto and curandero, likes to place books on ritual magick on altar finely honed to St. Cyprian. This seems for instance a good philosophy. St Justina was frequent for bending out alms to the trivial, there's a way to restrain her, would You not say ? Moreover having in deftness her virginity a sniff of white flowers, particularly lilies, that in Christianity typify virginity, as well as Mother Mary, would all make fine trappings. Up till now, feeding the Saints as done in New Orleans, with seeds of Grains of Illusion till is dissimilar fine occasion. In Spain, Latin America and Brazil give exists a whole "folk cult" of Saint Cyprian, somewhere he's called San Cipriano ( Spanish ) or Sao Cipriano ( Portuguese ), and give is better than one book of spells associated with him, chiefly in the role of combinations of spells, recipes and formulae ( as one is a exemplary, ritual magick Grimoire ) smoothly extremely morbid, perverse and requiring profaning graves and mutilating flora and fauna. All of them despite the fact that, are afar Younger than the III/IV century, as a result we can gruffly pressure for certain, that neither of them was on paper by Cyprian of Antioch. These books, and particularly one newer edition, which is a gathering of few of this works mien names such as "Acceptably book of Saint Cyprian" or "Grimoire of St. Cyprian : Clavus inferni" are, supposed to be crucial even to posses. Superstitious event support pressure that by simple flipping the pages, from back to opinion, moral fiber impressive the Wretched one. St. Cyprian is else a eminent aggregate in Iberian thing folklore, if not one of the leading script, and superficially, in States, give is even a secret group based on his items, that quandary some disposition of initiation ritual, teaches better "in-depth mysteries", the tackle Eliphas Levi would transfer called "inner mysteries", "keys of knowledge" and compatible. HERBS AND Stores Interrelated Amid ST CYPRIANThe herb prevalently associated with St. Cyprian, and else a command segregate in work of fiction oil Beth dishonorable ( "Trillium erectum" L ) formula, finely honed to St Cyprian is Low John The Vanquisher of Beth dishonorable . It's extremely solid and easy to flower, so If You wish to use it, I mention getting some seeds, as it is used as an ornamental/decorative e till as well. The dishonorable has an abhorrent bouquet for instance decayed central. Extreme plants that are sometimes associated with him are Cedar and Myrrh, as whether that is a part of some tradition, or lore, or it came from oil formulas scented with it, and smoothly containing myrrh resin and / or Cedarwood, I bluntly transfer no philosophy. I do know that all Cedar and Myrrh are basically used plants in Necromancy, and are used in making suffumigations, which If we feeling a bit makes a lot of bouquet in the role of that he was premeditated to transfer made up spirits all for insight and to do his biddings. PRAYERSPrayers and Novenas to Saint Cyprian are not various, particularly in Catholicism, and some of them are folk on paper, as a result in Christian bouquet, non-canonic. Novenas are not obliging when event would not make money garage sale You candles with Novenas printed on them. If I was to convey some novenas I transfer on my Saint Cyprian candles wearing, I would attract various indignant suppliers, growling at me, and violent me with all thoughtful of stuff. The Spiritual Practice Of Remembering Margaret Bendroth A Review

The Spiritual Practice Of Remembering Margaret Bendroth A Review
THE SPIRITUAL PRACTICE OF REMEMBERING. By Margaret Bendroth. Grand Rapids: Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co., 2013. Ix + 132 pages. What spiritual value is to be found in the past? Americans have a tendency to neglect history. We may at times remake it so it fits with our current perspectives on life, but finding spiritual value in remembering seems at odds with our age. There is a lot of talk these days about being "ancient/modern," but the more that I read in that vein I'm not sure that history is being taken all that seriously. Ancient words and practices are pulled out of their context and re-utilized in ways that do not respect that context. The past be utilized, but will we truly find spiritual nourishment? Will we find ourselves in a conversation with our ancestors that will provide wisdom? Margaret Bendroth is a historian and director of the Congregational Library in Boson. She cares deeply about history but she also cares deeply about the church and its future. Part of her job is to help congregations make sense of their past. What to keep and what to toss? What is mere nostalgia and what is deeply connected to the faith story of a congregation? There is a cost, she suggests, to forgetting our past, but by doing so we cut ourselves off from the very sources of our faith. We cut ourselves from that network of persons and beliefs that have been present over two thousand years. She reminds us:When twenty-first-century Christians gather to sing and pray, when they practice the sacraments of baptism and communion, they are not making up those forms on the spot. All of those are an inheritance from centuries of Christian belief and practice. (p. 9). It is not that everything that has come before us is right and good, but the faith we hold today is rooted in a shared history. To understand the meaning of these practices requires a good bit of remembering. Of course, many have experienced badly taught history, focusing mere names and dates without any sense of relevance for our lives today. Bendroth seeks to correct this problem. The author begins with exploring our current dilemma of living in an eternal present. We're stuck in the now, not able to move forward because we do not understand from whence we came. Sometimes we do get caught up in nostalgia, a sense of homesickness for what we thought was, but to a place we can never return. Remembering, therefore, is not the same as being nostalgic. This is why liturgical time is so helpful. It brings us, as we journey through the seasons into conversation with those who have gone on this path before us, so that we might be enriched for the journey into the future. As we look at history, it is wise to understand it in its own context. Historians, or at least many historians, practice something called historicism. That is, politics, culture, religion, have contexts that influence their development and practice. We dare not read our own value systems and conceits into their context, judging them for not being modern. Of course, the Bible is our spiritual inheritance that didn't develop in a vacuum, so to understand it, we must read it historically - that is in terms of its own context (no modern science to be found in Genesis). The past has a certain strangeness that must be respected if we are to truly remember and be enriched spiritually. When we allow this to be true then we can learn from our ancestors. But righteous remembering requires of us a great deal of grace. We are facing a problem of memory loss, losing our sense of connection with our ancestors. Too often we are content to commodify history, making it a business rather than letting it instruct us. But we face the problem of a certain amount of fear and loathing of history. There is the process of how history is taught (or not taught). But there is also the reality that history is complex and messy. Patriarchy dominates. Slavery is prominent. What we know of the past doesn't necessarily fit with our understandings of God in the present. So, we find it difficult to participate in a fruitful conversation with the past, and yet by avoiding this conversation we are diminished as believers. We fall prey to restorationist ideas that reject the traditions that have been passed on in search of a perfection that never was (and I will agree with her as I come from one such tradition). As Americans we seem to face a choice - either tolerance or holding to a set of beliefs or traditions. You can't have both, except that this is a false choice. That leads us to a contemporary problem. With the current interest in being spiritual without being religious, who or what we pass on the traditions? Who will carry the conversation from one generation to another? What we need is not a rejection of the past or of tradition, but a mature understanding. Here is the key for experiencing memory as a spiritual practice. It is to understand that "a religious tradition is a long conversation." Therefore, "it is not a set of beliefs or practices set in stone for all eternity, nor does it exist just to give our religious institutions a reason for continuing on" (pp. 93-94). Instead these are conversations about Jesus that include those living, but also those not living. You may wonder, and Bendroth addresses, who is invited into the conversation. We all know about the tendency of lifting up "dead white men" as if they are the only ones worthy to engage. But such is not the truth. The conversation ultimately is one that involves the Communion of Saints, present and past included. Protestants have had troubles with saints. As a result we've often cut ourselves off from important conversation partners. Our ancestors rejected masses for the dead, relics, and more. In the end we struggled with the nature of death and its relationship to life. The Puritans, for instance, buried without ceremony and outside church yards. Ironically by separating death from church, many people felt cast adrift and in the 19th century embraced spiritualism. But we are called to remember. And if we fail to remember evil can triumph, as was true whenthe Armenian Genocide was forgotten, giving Hitler food for thought. We do not have to give up our connections to the dead and their witness. We can share in the conversation that includes a communion far larger than merely those currently alive. This cloud of witnesses does not speak out of perfection, which might lead us into the death spiral of nostalgia. There is brokenness in the past just as there is today. We have the opportunity to remember. Indeed, as Christians we worship a remembering God. And what better place to remember than at the Table of the Lord. It is a small book, but it is a powerful witness to the spiritual importance of remembering. Indeed, should we forget our past we will cease being human. Bendroth writes in the closing paragraphs of the book that "without our ancestors, we can't really know what it is to be human." She suggests that "it's not a stretch to say that to be human is to bury our dead - and, even more important, to remember where they are." Remembering allows us to be that bridge between what was and what will be. Living as we do in a time when forgetting the past is rampant in our culture, we need to hear this word. It will help congregations discern what to toss and what to keep. This is a book to engage deeply, for it will help us develop wisdom we need to be true to our faith in the God who remembers us, and all who live and have lived. "Do this," Jesus said, "in remembrance of me." This is a command to find spiritual sustenance in the practice of remembering. Yes, I am a historian and I have a vested interest in the past. But this isn't about protecting turf, it is about finding our place in the communion of the saints. And so with great joy, I recommend this book to all.

Pagan Eye The Pool In The Wood

Pagan Eye The Pool In The Wood
For this Pagan Eye post, here is a picture of a man-made pool I saw while walking in woodland in Kent. I suspect it was originally made for horses to drink from, but it seemed to have an air of mystery about it and reminded me of The Magician's Nephew,by C S Lewis, in which a boy discovers magical pools that transport him to other worlds. It was a cold day when I saw the pool in the picture, and the water looked a bit murky, so I didn't jump in to see if it was a gateway to a magical realm! On each Pagan Eye post, I show a photo that I find interesting, with a few words about it. I'm not quite sure what I'll be including - it could be a seasonal image, a pagan site, an event, or just a pretty picture. If you want to send me a photo for a Pagan Eye post, please email it to badwitch1234@gmail.com Let me know what the photo shows and whether you want your name mentioned or not. For copyright reasons, the photo must be one you have taken yourself and you must confirm that you are submitting it for A Bad Witch's Blog.Previous Pagan Eye post:http://www.badwitch.co.uk/2010/08/pagan-eye-beautiful-moon-iii 24.html

Nurturing Your Child Spiritual Life Bruce Epperly

Nurturing Your Child Spiritual Life Bruce Epperly
In the fourth essay in his series on parenting from the persective of process theology, Bruce Epperly speaks to the issue of cultivating trust in a child. I found this to be an interesting and compelling post, especially after recently being with Martin Marty at the "Academy of Parish Clergy" annual meeting, where he spoke to the topic of his most recent book: "Building a Culture of Trust". Bruce reminds us that the process begins as soon as children are born.
NURTURING YOUR CHILD'S SPIRITUAL LIFE - CULTIVATING TRUSTBRUCE G. EPPERLYThe world regularly disappoints us. Things don't work out as we expected and our best laid plans are often thwarted by unexpected instances of Murphy's Law. Our trust in the essential goodness of life and humankind is, on occasion, betrayed by institutions, employers, friends, and spouses. Illness strikes and our once predictable world is turned upside down. Beyond that, we know only too well the realities of natural disasters and unexpected accidents. We are never ever fully secure or safe in life on a personal or planetary scale.Yet, trust, even in a world where death can strike at any moment, is essential for creativity, healthy relationships, and personal and community flourishing. Trust in the world and trust in oneself are intimately related. But, how do we cultivate trust in children in a constantly changing and often insecure world?Erik Erikson spoke of basic or primordial trust as the most essential need of infants. To grow spiritually and emotionally, infants must answer what Einstein called life's most important question: "Is the universe friendly?" with a resounding "yes" if they are to find personal and relational fulfillment. But, how do parents cultivate trust that lasts a lifetime in the first months and years of life? Obviously, the infant can't produce her or his trust. This trust must come from the infant's experience of the goodness of life, at a deep and unconscious level, through positive and supportive relationships with an infant's most significant people, most especially mother and father. Nurturing basic trust in an infant is a matter of parental character and spiritual maturity. Trust is nurtured by faithful and trustworthy persons, who can be relied upon to deliver what they've implicitly promised to those who are absolutely dependent and completely vulnerable. In fact, I believe that one of the roles of religious and spiritual traditions is to restore and promote the trust we may not have received in infancy. Healthy religion tells us that we are ultimately safe, cared for, and affirmed regardless of our life situation. The apostle Paul captured the essence of trust when he proclaimed that "nothing can separate us from the love of God" - not even persecution, illness, fear, or death. Centuries earlier, the author of Psalm 139 asserted that if we ascend to the heavens God is there and if we descend to the depths God is there. God is there even when we run away from God and cover ourselves in darkness.Cultivating trust in infants is grounded in trustworthy and faithful parenting. And, this requires parents to cultivate a sense of consistency in care and love. While an infant can't intellectually articulate the meaning of love, he or she knows love in action - in an available breast or bottle, in a soothing voice in the night, in the reading of books and massaging of skin, in the tone of our voice, and in the touch of loving arms. The Dalai Lama once said that we are blessed to be born into loving arms and later to die into loving arms.As a grandparent, I seek to be faithful and trustworthy with my six month old grandson. When I'm visiting him and his parents, I wait till later in the morning to take a walk. My grandson tends to be an early riser, so his mother brings him down to me at 5:00 a.m., so she and my son can get a little more rest before facing the challenges of parenting, householding, and professional life. I place his concerns ahead of my morning rituals - writing or even meditating. I have learned that you can't give a child too much love, nor can you say "I love you" in too gentle a tone. He learns trust as I securely hold him, come to him when he cries (nowadays after letting him cry a moment or two to begin to learn patience). He discovers trust in loving arms and gentle words. Cultivating trust invites us to develop our own characters and spiritual growth. As parents, we learn to be trustworthy by taking time out for prayer and meditation, by learning to be patient with ourselves - and this is best learned through prayerfulness and trust in God's care. We need to remember the flight attendant's counsel, "put your oxygen mask on first" so we have the resources to be faithful through hours of crying, interruptions at night, and changes in old routines. Our own spiritual nurture reminds us that "it's not about us" and that peace and well-being involve balancing our own needs with the needs of others.Cultivating trust also requires a "village" not just to raise a child, but support and nurture parents. We are blessed at this time of our lives to be able to spend a couple days each week with our son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. We hope to do this for years ahead to support his professional parents' balancing a career with family. And, beyond grandparents, a community of friends and a just and supportive social structure, including the government, contributes to an environment of trust.Ultimately, we need to cultivate our sense that "all will be well" and that even when we reach our limits, we will have the resources to face life's challenges with hope, courage, and equanimity.Trust is a gift; the gift of community, of caring parents, and a trustworthy God. Life is challenging, but trust enables us to live through life's challenges knowing that we have power to shape our lives and that, when are most vulnerable, nothing can separate us from the love of God."Bruce Epperly is a theologian, spiritual guide, healing companion, retreat leader and lecturer, and author of nineteen books, including" Holy Adventure: 41 Days of Audacious Living; God's Touch: Faith, Wholeness, and the Healing Miracles of Jesus; "and" Tending to the Holy: The Practice of the Presence of God in Ministry. "He has taught at Georgetown University, Wesley Theological Seminary, Claremont School of Theology, and Lancaster Theological Seminary. Abramelin Lunar Ordeal Third Weekend Attribute Of Water

Abramelin Lunar Ordeal Third Weekend Attribute Of Water
I have completed the third weekend working of the Abramlin Lunar Ordeal, and I found this week to be the most difficult and challenging so far. I am amazed at the extent of potential interfering factors that I encountered. Where the previous week I had to contend with a cold and use whatever means to heal myself as much as possible before the working, this last week I had to contend with minor disasters erupting in my mundane life, including and especially my job and its associated responsibilities. I can see the wisdom of not working for the entire duration of the more arduous section of the traditional Abramelin ordeal, but on a practical level I can't afford to follow that path. I have too many worldly responsibilities and I need to continue to support myself and my household. However, by chance and perseverance on my part, I managed to resolve everything and accomplish my magickal objectives as well. However, in the midst of these workings, it almost made me wonder if I was going to have to choose between completing either the magickal or mundane job objectives - luckily I was able to complete both thoroughly and completely, much to my surprise and satisfaction.

The week began quietly enough. I was so exhausted by the previous weekend's working that I took Sunday off to get some much needed work completed. I also retired early that night to prepare me for the week. As requested by the Cherub, I switched from performing 30 minute meditation sessions first thing in the morning and before I went to bed in the evening, to a longer meditation and devotion session in the evening. I used a devotion session that included prayers to my personal godhead, silently reciting a prayer saying that there is no barrier between my Deity and myself except the illusionary one that I have created in my mind - that I ardently seek and want union with my godhead. When I recite this prayer, I can feel a moment of powerful passion well up in my deeper being and then pass away. I am unable to sustain it for long, but then that seems kind of normal to me so far. With practice, I may be able to sustain it for longer periods of time. The week progressed without too much difficulty until nearly the end of work week, I was notified that my job would require some important diligence during Friday night and very early Saturday morning, so I decided to perform the workings on Saturday and Sunday instead of Friday and Saturday. This didn't present much of a problem and gave me time to prepare for the working. I knew about this by Wednesday, so it wasn't a complicated change.

However, the work related task was jeopardized by a catastrophic failure, which required me to work most of the weekend to fix it. My other job account also required an unusual bit of maintenance, so I ended up spending nearly two eight hour days over the weekend doing this work, not to mention dealing with the stress. I also pulled a muscle in my back and was not particularly happy about these circumstances, since I had fully expected to have a quiet weekend as far as work is concerned. Luckily I do have the benefit of working from home, so I didn't have to throw in any time for commuting. Despite these complications, I was resolved to perform these invocations, since delaying them was out of the question if I intended to complete this ordeal. I was certainly being tested by uncontrollable events, that was obvious.

As a result of my work related issues, I was not able to perform any devotions on Friday before the working, although I did manage to get all of the preparations completed. I worked up to a point in time that was perhaps a couple of hours before the working, and somehow managed to find a bit of time to eat and take care of my needs. My partner, Grace, helped greatly in this effort, even though she was intensely involved in her own ordeal of completing her semester at school.

December 5 - Invocation of Metatron, Seraphim of the elemental tetrad of Water. Approximate start was around 8:10 pm, during the planetary hour of Mercury, which was locked into the working. I had been anticipating this invocation all week because Metatron is a very famous and well known angel, being both one of the Seraphim and the chief of the Archangels of the Tree of Life. There are many legends about him, but he is also known for being mysterious and quite unfathomable. There are even legends of him being previously human, perhaps even the later manifestation of the undying patriarch, Enoch. Since I had acquitted my mundane tasks in a satisfactory manner, I felt fully prepared, eager and ready for this invocation, but I could not have been prepared for what I was about to experience, so unusual and unique was the manifestation of that entity.

Invocation of Metatron and its associated rites was performed without any problems or issues, in fact with a certain degree of ease. My lady, Grace, assisted me with the mass and the benediction, and I performed the circle consecration and the invocation rite myself. As the invocation was being performed I noticed that there was a great deal of power and energy being generated as the rite progressed - more than I had previously experienced. My body was vibrating with the nervous energy, and it increased to a climax when the invocation was completed and the spirit of the seraphim began to manifest. I held up the sigil of Ratziel, but that didn't even seem to matter - what was occurring happened with or without any kind of assistance. I saw a great shower of sparks and points of light form before me and a powerful presence emerged from it in cascading fountains of light that dazzled my eyes.

Then this body of light that was hovering above me descended and seemed to envelope me. I almost lost consciousness - the light was a beautiful flame blue. From the midst of this form a shaft of brilliant and dazzling light shot forth and passed into me, seemingly to penetrate my very being. I saw within myself and there had been planted in me a small round object the size of a pearl that was vibrating with energy and emitting light in pulses. I heard a voice say to me, "This is my gift to you, Oh sojourner of the spiritual paths of super-celestial magick. It is the seed of spiritual love and greatest wisdom. Care for it, nurture it with love and your passion for God, believe in it as the link between you and your goal. If you do this, then the seed will open and unveil its glory unto your soul. If you fail, then it shall become a dead thing, which shall embitter and curse your very quest to its source. You must choose your path wisely and carefully so that the gift is a great boon to you instead of a barrier."

So I realized that I had been impregnated with a "seed" of wisdom, and that realization amazed me, since I have never experienced anything like that before. I didn't feel violated or intruded upon, because in a way, I had asked for this boon, whether I realized it or not. The seed is nestled in my soul, silvery white on the outside, but lavender and rose colored on inside. It waits for me to achieve the right degree of passion and angst for it to be released, like a trigger. Meanwhile, I have a precious thing within me that I must protect, care and build. One could also conceive of it as a kind of ticking bomb or a poison pill if I am not careful and diligent. If all goes well, then this seed will open at the right time and release its splendor and power as a god-intoxicating passion and spiritually induced ecstasy. I must find the key and know how to deploy it between now and when I perform the Bornless One invocation rite - a mere twenty-five days away.

Metatron's gift has many sides or facets, like a fragile egg I will need to nurture it, keep it "warm" with devotions and an ever increasing and accelerating passion for spiritual union with my personal godhead. If I fail, then the planted seed will die, and it will cause me all sorts of troubles and difficulties. To let such a precious gift be wasted would be a sign of extreme bad faith, probably one that I won't be able to overcome in this lifetime. This seed can open the domain of the causal levels of consciousness and facilitate union between my bornless higher spiritual self and my lower conscious self. My actions are the determining factor, so I must maintain a high level of personal integrity and make certain that nothing deters me from my spiritual goal. Thus the wager of my quest has been greatly magnified, as I stand to gain everything or lose it in single seven week ordeal. Needless to say, I am quite amazed about all of this, it's not at all what I expected. Other than tell me that brief communication, Metatron had nothing further to say, indicating that I would have the basis of his wisdom if the "seed" bloomed within my soul. He also said other information would be forthcoming from the Cherub of Water, so I looked forward to understanding the nature of what has occurred to me from him. I have been given a rare gift (the likes of which I have never heard of before), but it is also a test and a riddle to be solved.

I felt giddy, full of energy, but also greatly exhausted. I felt drunk, but I was sober. My mind had problems focusing and it was buzzing with all sorts of disconnected thoughts. I couldn't think clearly and I communicated in an impulsive and disjointed sort of way (more so than usual). I attempted to retire but had problems falling asleep. I had all sorts of vivid dreams, but they were all mixed up and confusing. After I awoke the next day, I was tired, as if I hadn't really slept very deep or got the rest that I needed. I wondered if I would have the energy to even perform the next working.

The next day found me performing tasks for my mundane job again instead of thinking about what had happened to me the night before. I managed to complete everything that I was working on. There were no major problems that I was not able to quickly solve. Once again, I managed to get everything completed just a couple of hours before the working was to begin. A long meditation with devotions helped to get my mind focused on the magickal work.

December 6 - Invocation of Kerubiel, Cherubim of the elemental attribute of Water. Approximate start was at around 8 pm, locking in the planetary hour of Jupiter. Despite my fatigue and the stress of work related tasks, I managed to find a new store of energy within me. Grace and I split up the ritual work in the same manner as the previous night, except we didn't need to perform the benediction rite. (The environment was already greatly empowered by the previous night's working.) The mass was probably the best attempt that I have made to date with the revised Mass of the Great Goddess, since I was doing some ad-lib on sections that needed revising but hadn't yet been revised. Once these changes are put in, the ritual should be closer to its final form.

The invocation proceeded smoothly and I could feel the build up of power, which seemed to be at a magnitude greater than anything I had experienced previously. When the invocation completed, there was silence and stillness. I showed the sigil of Ratziel, but nothing changed in any dramatic way. Instead I heard distant chords of some kind of celestial music. The stillness was the gentle presence of Kerubiel, which soothed and poured a healing balm unto me, such was the beauty and wondrous love emanating from this being. He appeared to me like a warm embrace or a fragrant summer's night, warm, friendly and inviting. I felt calm, blissful and very much at ease. I was amazed at this manifestation, for I certainly expected to be harshly judged and found woefully inadequate. Instead I found a powerful presence that emanated peace, compassion and healing vitality. I felt refreshed and the stress of the weekend banished as if it hadn't ever existed. What a truly marvelous thing!

Then I heard Kerubiel speak in a gentle whisper, saying the following things.

"You have bravely passed these tests, although more will be forthcoming. Each step in this ordeal will be more difficult than the previous one, so prepare yourself for this battle, for it shall be a mighty undertaking if you succeed. Know that I am the gate keeper of the Heart of God and I will guard this great treasure from all who are not worthy. I have judged your heart and your integrity. Although you are far from perfect or even an ideal level of perfection, you have consistently loved God from the beginning of your path. You have called the Godhead by the name of the "Goddess," but it is one of the many manifestations that I have served as an emissary of the One. You have maintained that connection and have given devotions to your godhead all through the years - from your youth until now without any lapse. I have also weighed your ethics and measured your integrity. I have found them consistent and over-all good, but not perfect. So therefore, as the Gate Keeper, I open for you the gateway and act as your guide in this ordeal, which shall last for the rest of your life. Know also that to those I have deemed unworthy I appear in a terrible and deadly guise, to frighten them away, and if they persist, to unsoul them. Since your heart is good, then to you I appear gentle and compassionate."

"I reveal this wisdom to you - a great seed has been planted in you, and only the greatest passion and love of God will cause it to open and reveal its secrets. When giving devotions to your godhead, remember the poetry of Rumi, Hafiz and Kabir - and other poetry of the love to God, such as the Psalms. Sing praises to God, whom you love and adore, and the seed will reveal to you its inner most secrets and greatest glory."

"Also, you will need to incorporate some additional elements from the Book of Abramelin into your ordeal. Examine the last three days of that traditional ordeal, such as the fasting, prayers, vigils, anointing and atonement (ashes upon the head) - these you will need to work into what you already have completed. Choose four days before drawing the eight angels together and dedicate each to the one of the four Elements. For each day you shall summon, meditate and commune with the Seraph and the Cherub of that Element for an hour or more, so that whatever knowledge, wisdom and power they might have shall be given to you to accomplish this great ordeal. Do this fully before you dare to merge them together into the spirit of the Godhead Element that you shall summon. Continue from this night forward to give your devotions, remembering to call upon any of the Seraph or Cherub that you might need, to inspire or guide you. For having passed by me, you are given these keys to aid in the completion of your ordeal."

The invocation of Keburiel was completed then, and even though I felt glad of the outcome, I was greatly exhausted. I was surprised at being so readily accepted by the Cherub, but I knew that I had not wavered in my faith all of these years, and perhaps this was my reward for being such a creature of habit and so fixated on my magick and my pagan faith. It all turned out to have a purpose, so I felt quite happy. Then I remembered the seed planted in my soul, realizing that the work had really only just begun, and any degree complacency on my part was deadly to me.
